This week is Energy Safety Week. Energy Safety Week helps New South Wales, Queensland, South Australian and Victorian primary and pre-primary students:

  • understand how energy works
  • keep safe while using gas and electricity in the kitchen
  • learn about being safe around LPG.

Energy safety in the kitchen is the theme for 2009. Through activities and challenges, students will learn how to keep safe while using gas and electricity in the kitchen such as with stoves, ovens and kitchen appliances.

Senior Students help with Stage 2 Writing

Mrs Lowe’s Senior Literacy Class buddied up with Miss Arthurson’s Stage 2 Literacy group last week to work on writing narrative “orientations”. The topic was “A mini creature”. Equipped with a thesauras each, Year 5/6 worked one on one with Year 3/4 students to come up with catchy, creative introductions, writing through the eyes of the mini creatures.

Science & Technology This Week

This week in Science & Technology KM and K/1 J are investigating what plants need to grow. To demonstrate how plants use water the students will be observing what happens when a stalk of celery is placed in a glass of coloured water.

Year 2 will be looking at packaging that can be re-cycled and where our rubbish goes.
