Swimming Carnival Champions 2010
We kicked off this week with our school swimming carnival and our students participated enthusiastically in a great day of competition and fun. Thanks to Mrs Banks and Mrs Jones for their organisation and to all the staff and parents who assisted on the day. The results of the carnival are as follows:
Junior Boy: Liam C, Junior Girl: Courtney M, Senior Boy: Hayden C and Senior Girl: Lauren A
While Years 1 to 6 were at the swimming carnival on Monday our Kindergaten students, Mrs Johns and Miss McDonell celebrated Spot’s birthday with a party back at school.
The Active After School Community sessions also commenced this week with water activities at school and sailing at the 16 Footers at Belmont. Once again these activities have been very popular with our students. A huge thank you to parents and staff who transported students to and from the 16 Footers at short notice when the bus didn’t arrive.
Jeans for Genes is a major fundraiser of the Children’s Medical Research Institute.
Chances are you probably know someone who has a genetic disease, because one in twenty children are born with some form of genetic fault. There are children with leukaemia, muscular dystrophy, genetic defectsand many other disorders. The scientists at the Children’s Medical Research Institute are working to try to prevent these diseases before they occur in our children, or where that is not possible to develop better treatments.
I hope you are all enjoying your holidays. Sorry I haven’t posted anything over the break but I have been busy, busy, busy enjoying the break
I will post photos etc from the last week of Term One shortly, and I will see all those students who are marching on Anzac Day in Belmont on Saturday.
I just wanted to quickly post something about Starlight Day which is coming up next month. Last year our Year 3/4 students, Mrs Banks and I held a Starlight Party at our school to raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
